Overview
RuralSmart has partnered with Specterra Services to offer aerial multispectral imaging, also known as vigour mapping. Purpose-built cameras carried by light aircraft are able to assess the relative vigour of all plants within a crop.
RuralSmart can organise imaging flights, and deliver the maps in the most useful format for your purposes. We can offer additional support including planning field work or creating variable rate application maps.
Uses
Vigour maps allow you to define zones of similar plant vigour. Once defined, each individual zone can be managed optimally.
This mapping can be used by a wide range of crops, including vineyards, orchards and broadacre cropping.
Example outcomes
Segregated Harvests
Harvest common zones together, to ensure your crop meets specifications.
Targeted nutrition and soil testing programs
Base your sampling on the growth of the plants.
Variable Rate Input Technologies
Technology now exists to easily modify sprayers, spreaders and even irrigation systems to deliver inputs at varying rates. To do this effectively, a map of variability is required, and aerial vigour mapping is ideally suited to the task.
